Tips for maintaining your leather
• Leather, like other natural materials, can fade with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Noblesse, one of our more natural leathers, is particularly susceptible to this. To minimize fading, keep your furniture out of direct sunlight.
• To maintain the quality of the leather, it is advisable to place your furniture at least 30 cm away from heat sources.
• Leather is not resistant to animals. Do not let your pets sit on your leather furniture to prevent damage from claws. The saliva of pets can damage the protective layer of the leather.
• Protect leather from stubborn stains by treating it correctly. Do not use chemical household products such as detergents, window cleaners, bleach, nail polish, acetone, glue, shoe polish, paint or caustic agents. Also avoid products containing solvents and oils, as these can damage the leather. Never try to remove stubborn stains with regular cleaning agents, as these are often aggressive and not suitable for leather. Do not use a steam cleaner either.
• Cosmetics and body care products may contain solvents and oils that are harmful to leather. Avoid contact of these products with leather furniture, especially when they have just been applied. Clean the leather regularly using the recommended methods to prevent build-up of these products.
• Leather with a two-tone colour effect (such as shadow or antique effect) may change appearance more quickly and wear more unevenly than leather in a single colour. This is especially true for parts of the furniture that are exposed to more wear, such as armrests, seat cushions and neck supports.
• The outer layer of the leather protects the material and makes cleaning easier, but is susceptible to dirt and wear. If the outer layer is damaged, the quality of the leather can deteriorate more quickly. Deep stains, damage or scratches can be irreparable and lead to discolouration, cracking or peeling of the outer layer.
• Denim and other hard fabrics, such as jeans, can put a lot of strain on the leather and leave marks. This is difficult to remove without damaging the colored outer layer, especially with light leather colors.
